CD REVIEW: GRAB THE ROCKET by Rockett Love

GRAB THE ROCKET by Rockett Love
(AOR Heaven Records)

'Grab The Rocket', the powerhouse debut outing for the Swedish rock outfit Rockett Love is one of those rare albums where the band gets everything right. Talk about making a strong first impression. Comprised of, Daniel Samuelsson (formerly of Twinball) on vocals, the twin guitar attack of Stefan Westerlund and Gustaf Eklund, Dennis Vestman on bass and Fredrik ahlin on drums. Rockett Love serve up a great melodic hard rock vibe and nail the perfect combination of classic `80s AOR and hard-hitting European rock. The guitar hooks are amazing, and the melodies lodge themselves in your head instantly. Daniel Samuelsson delivers a solid vocal performance. The twin guitar attack of Stefan Westerlund and Gustaf Eklund are a match made in heaven. Actions are louder than words, the the proof is in the songs, and you can pretty much pick any of the songs on this album  at random and find an absolutely killer song that begs to be cranked to maximum volume. Every track is chock full of great vocals, edgy riffs, excellent solos with a sweet tone, and just overall consistently memorable hooks to every track. "Never Surrender", "One Of These Days", "Rocket Love" and "We Will Be Heroes" are particularly convincing. These are the kind of songs that rock radio desperately needs-right here! 'Grab The Rocket'  is a pure melodic hard rock album in the best tradition cranking out that huge rock sound you thought was lost forever. For a debut outing Rockett Love definitely deliver the goods on all fronts, on the strengths of solid vocals and compelling guitar work, good melodies, and catchy lyrical hooks.  Melodic Rock with great guitar riffs, your cup of tea? Then you will enjoy this album from start to finish!
