CD Reviews for: GOLDSBORO / BURNING RAIN / DEVIL'S TRAIN / HEAVEN'S BASEMENT

CD REVIEW: GOLDSBORO  by Goldsboro
(Independent Release)

As a child of the 70''s, I grew up listening to bands like Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin and Free to name a few. The fact of the matter is, it was a great time for rock music. In the 21st century there seems to be a resurgence of that 70's classic rock sound. Band's like, The Answer and The Rival Sons come to mind. Well, you can add another band to that list, Goldsboro.  Aside from having that classic hard rock sound the band bring a modern rock vibe to the table as well.  The L.A.based trio is  powered by , Kevin Roentgen on vocals and guitars, formerly from American Pearl, John Bentjen on bass and Chris Cano on drums. Together the trio  come out swinging for the fences with their rock solid self-titled debut. Produced by Noah Shain,  whose worked with band's like, Atreyu and Dead Sara. Goldsboro waste no time kicking the album off   in rocking fashion with, "Great White Buffalo", a super charger of a rocker that has a Thin Lizzy vibe to it. Without catching a breathe the band go full board into, "Bottom", "Redemption Man" and "Heading For The Sun" . Some may recognize , "Angels", from the Fox show, 'Sons Of Anarchy', one of personal favorites on the album. 10 tracks in all. All are guaranteed to ROCK your socks off.  Goldsboro bring back a great classic rock sound combined with good songwriting.  A great combination for success if you ask me. So there you go, my advice is to get your hands on this album. I have a feeling we are going to be hearing alot more from Goldsboro and all I can say to that is, BRING IT! - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

CD REVIEW: EPIC OBSESSION by Burning Rain
(Frontier Records)

'Epic Obsession' , the highly anticipated third release from Burning Rain is an extremely well balanced serving of rock that will give you goose bumps! Just as the band exhibited on their two previous releases this record shows a diversity of songs. I for one am happy that Burning Rain is finally getting some recognition (way over due if you ask me). Better late than never I guess. The revamped team of Doug  Aldrich and Keith St John have recruited a couple veteran rockers in, Sean McNabb (Dokken, Quiet Riot) on bass and backing vocals and Matt Starr from Ace Frehley' s  band on drums. 'Epic Obsession'  also features several guest musicians. Most notably the Brian Tichy and Jimmy D'Anda Ex Bullet Boys on Drums. Describing the record is almost too typical. It goes down some similar and some unfamiliar roads, but he best advice is to check it out for yourself.  If there is to be a classic recording for 2013, 'Epic Obsession' from Burning Rain could be atop of many peoples list. With tracks like, " Sweet Little Baby Thing", "Til You Die", " Pray Out Loud" and the lead off single, "My Lust Your Fate", if there was ever a song that one would love to see a stripper dance to, this would be the cut. 12 tracks plus two bonus songs, most notably a killer version of the Zep classic "Kashmir" and "Heaven Gets Me By". When all comes down to it, from start to finish, 'Epic Obsession' is a balls to the wall hard rock album that pulls no punches. Kudos to Doug, Keith , Sean and Matt for a job well done! - Highly Recommended

CD REVIEW: DEVIL'S TRAIN by Devil's Train
(101 DISTRIBUTION)

ALL ABOARD! Devil's Train burst onto the music scene with their self titled debut release and it's a rocker! I hate to sound cliche, but it's the truth. Devil's Train is powered by vocalist, producer and mastermind R.D. Liapakis (frontman of German Power Metal act Mystic Prophecy), J”rg Michael (former member of Stratovarius), guitarist Lakis Ragazas and bass guitar player Jari Kainulainen (Symfonia, Ex-Stratovarius, Ex-Evergrey). The band wastes no time in putting the hammer down with, "Fire and Water"  a bluesy balls out rocker that is  loaded with attitude. Then there is the super  prime mover, "Sweet Devil's Kiss" that goes for the jugular. Twelve tracks in all including a rocking cover of the Guess Who classic, "American Woman" . Devil's Train deliver the goods big time for their first outing. Nothing fancy going on here, just pedal to the metal, balls to the wall, get your rocks off music. What more could any true rocker and roller want? - Highly Recommended.

CD REVIEW: FILTHY EMPIRE: Heaven's Basement
(Red Bull Records)

Every once and a while a rock band comes along that just seems to have everything. Attitude combined with a swagger that bleeds confidence. A confidence that can be felt through their music. A rock band that demands your undivided attention once you hear that first note. Heaven's Basement is one of those bands. In 2013, the band have their sights on putting the rock music scene on notice with 'Filthy Empire'  the band's full length debut release is a monster of a rock and roll recording. I shit you not, these boys bring it and they are taking no prisoners!  Heaven's Basement is fueled by Aaron Buchanon on vocals, Sid Glover on guitars and backing vocals, Rob Ellershaw on bass and on the skins, Chris Rivers. The band's tight chemistry and that confidence I mentioned is evident right off the bat with "Welcome Home" a super charger of a song that is simply balls to the wall. While tracks like, " Fire, Fire", "Nothing Left To Lose" and "I Am Electric"  go for the throat from start to finish. 12 tracks total all guaranteed to rock your bloody socks off. I know it may sound cliche, but I'm dead serious. These boys mean business. Heaven's Basement is a band that knows, respects and acknowledges their influences, from AC/DC to Aerosmith to Led Zeppelin, but doesn't attempt to copy them. Instead they pick up where these groups left off and carry on the tradition of creating great sounding rock and roll with an edge! Heaven's Basement is exactly what rock music needs right now. 'Filthy Empire' comes highly recommended because it's FILTHY GREAT! - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
